Rumors began swirling earlier this year that WBIE could have possibly canceled the PS4 and XB1 versions of the upcoming Batman Arkham spinoff, Gotham Knights.

More rumors hit yesterday that the game would no longer feature 2 player co-op but would be expanding to 4 player online co-op. Not long after this news hit the official social media accounts for Gotham Knights let it be known that new information for the game would be hitting today in the form of 13 minutes of Robin and Red Hood gameplay gameplay footage.

While the new gameplay is impressive (and embedded below!), WBIE made it official, the last-gen version of Gotham Knights have been canceled:

Please note, to provide players with the best possible gameplay experience, the game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC and will not be available for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles.

While this might be a bummer for those of us who have yet to secure a current-gen console over the past 18 months, I’m sure this decision wasn’t an easy one considering the potential sales the game will have lost because of it.

Gotham Knights will save your day on October 25th on the PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.
