Hey! CD Projekt Red did warn us recently that this could happen. So why was I surprised when they announced today that the current-gen update for Cyberpunk 2077 is being delayed until Q1 2022 and the current-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt until Q2 2022!

You read that right. Developer CDPR made it official via their Twitter account and so the hate began (I dare you to read the replies to the post!)

I feel bad because I’ve been on here telling everyone to buy the games while they’re cheap so they can take advantage of the free current-gen updates when they release later in 2021. Fuck me, ya know?

Should have known better because I really want to give these devs the benefit of the doubt because when it comes down to it, they put their pants on the same way we do. We’re all struggling to survive in this fantastic (yet insane) world like the rest of us. COVID-19 ain’t helping the matter at all. But ultimately this feels more like an investor move.

What does CDPR has up their sleeve for 2022? No major releases such as a new Witcher title or what not. DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t going to make that big of an improvement in the bank account. However, if you release the new PS5 and Xbox Series S|X SKU for Cyberpunk 2077 in Q1, then hit us with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition in Q2, they’ll have some sort of cash flow aside from Gwent.

Then again, 2022 is wakus bonkus when it comes to new releases, so both of these games could hit the market as duds while gamers flock to sequels, remakes, and new releases. Guess we shall see.

We will keep you updated, Brah.
