The biggest surprise of the PlayStation Showcase 2021 hands down was none other than the announcement of Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games.

Being helmed by Brian Horton (Marvel’s Spider-Man & Miles Morales) as the Creative Director and Cameron Christian (Resistance 3, Sunset Overdrive, Marvel’s Spider-Man) as the Game Director, we’re going to get an PS5 exclusive standalone title featuring our favorite Mutant Canadian!

Part of what made Marvel’s Spider-Man so successful is that it can be enjoyed by gamers of all ages. The game might have been rated Teen (ages 13+) by the ESRB, I know plenty of people with kids younger than that who they bought the game for.

But when you think of Wolverine, you think of those adamantium claws slicing through the flesh of his rival Sabertooth, as blood fills the panel. As a fan of the character, I personally want this game to be a darker, mature story that doesn’t pull any punches with visceral, violent gameplay.

There is some hope for all us wanting a mature rated game. When asked by a fan about the size of the game, Brian Horton gave us two answers.

I’m not sure why anyone would doubt the ‘size’ of the game, but for anyone who wondered if it would be a $70, full sized, PS5 exclusive, you can send your worries away to Xavier’s School for the Gifted Youngsters.

I’m liking what I’m hearing, Mr. Horton! It might be awhile before we see more of Marvel’s Wolverine, so buckle up, Bub. This is going to be a longer wait than Logan regrowing all his flesh after being nuked.

Here’s the teaser trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine if you didn’t catch it this past week!
