For all of my fellow statisticians out there, you’ll be happy to know that Death Stranding has successfully sold over 5 million copies combined across the PS4 and PC.

While Kojima has joked(?) over the past two years that he wished the game had sold more, Jay Boor, Head of publishing for Kojima Productions broke the news to GamesIndustry.biz on the success of the company’s first major title.

With Death Stranding being the first title developed out of Kojima Productions, from a sales perspective, it has performed quite well. As of March 2021, Death Stranding has sold through over five million units worldwide on PlayStation 4 and PC.

The PS5 re-release of the game, Death Stranding Director’s Cut adds PS5 features along with new content for $49.99 and the current-gen update is only $10 for those of us who already own the PS4 version.

Even if Kojima doesn’t agree with the subtitle of Director’s Cut, we have a feeling it’s going to move plenty of copies on the PS5 when it releases on September 24th.

Are you ready to return to the bizarre yet addictive world of Death Stranding?
