Originally planned for a 2021 release, the next God of War title was recently delayed until 2022, along with the news that it’ll be a cross-gen title for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

While we’ve yet to see any footage of the game, if rumors are true, we might not have to wait much longer.

The first rumor is that Sony is going to hold an event this July. Rumblings are it’ll happen on July 8th, showcasing major 2021 and 2022 releases, with a surprise or two thrown in for good measure.

The second rumor is once again from our boy Nick at XboxERA. He dropped a rumor earlier this week about the GoT spinoff, Ghost of Ikishima. Now he’s saying we will get our first look at the next God of War gameplay at this event.

Considering that the reboot released in early 2018, this shouldn’t be shocking. It would have theoretically been in production for three years at this point, so this rumor doesn’t seem too crazy.

If Sony is to announce this event, it’ll have to happen with the next week or so to build the mega-hype train that we all love to ride.
