During Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, we’ve received a number of exciting announcements. New Sable gameplay and Gearbox’s next big title, just to name a few. One of the more interesting pieces of news for PlayStation gamers pertained to Hideo Kojima and Death Stranding.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut Coming to PS5
During a conversation with Keighley, Kojima detailed the pandemics effect on his creative process. But, at the end of it all, Kojima left fans with one more crumb of news. As a one more thing stinger, Kojima and PlayStation Studios announced Death Stranding Director’s Cut. The footage we received did not show too much. In fact, we don’t know anything at aside from Sam Porter hopping into a box.
However, we can assume this will add some meaningful story content. Where this content will land in the plot will be interesting to see. Maybe the cut adds more context or scenes to underutilized characters? Perhaps more Mama and Fragile moments? Or maybe this will work as an epilogue as sorts? Honestly, I can even see this as a Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal situation, where new characters, mechanics and story content is added.
Again, these are all assumptions. We don’t know how substantial this cut actually is, but we are certainly crossing our fingers for something meaty. Thankfully, it looks like we won’t have to wait too long.
