In the 6 months since the PS5’s release, a number of the biggest and most popular PS4 games have been updated to take full advantage of the new hardware. Both for Sony’s 1st party sites, and major 3rd party games on the platform, Ratchet & Clank (2016), Dead by Daylight, Borderlands 3, Marvel’s Avengers, Control, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, etc. All further upgraded and optimized to benefit further from the new technology.

And, as of today, The Last of Us Part II has been as well. One of the most successful and critically acclaimed games of the last generation.  As a free download, anyone who owns the game and plays it on PS5 will have access to new enhancements and options. The game’s resolution will be improved, and its load times vastly shortened. You can also choose if you want the game to focus on framerate or graphics, either having 30 fps with a better focus on visual fidelity or choosing to get a guaranteed 60FPS.

It’s always good to see another game get this treatment, and with more games likely to get such upgrades in the future, it shows Sony’s dedication to the goal of the PS5 being not only the best way to play the new generation of games but also the best way to play many, if not all games from the ps4 Library.
