We were all there last December. When millions of console gamers installed Cyberpunk 2077 only to encounter swarms of bugs, technical issues, and glitches. It was almost as if the team at CDPR didn’t give their console brethren the love and attention we deserved, only to rush the game to release to satisfy investors.
Sony went as far to pull Cyberpunk 2077 off the PlayStation Store, due to the nature of their refund policy. Despite several Updates that have been released since then, it still has yet to return for sale on the PSN.
The craziest part of this situation? Despite all the negativity, all the controversy, all the online hate, CD Projekt Red has reported that the game has sold over 13.7 million copies across PC, PlayStation 4/5 and Xbox One/Series S|X.
The official breakdown:
PC – 56%
PlayStation – 28%
Xbox – 17%
CD Projekt Red reportedly spent $316 million on marketing the game, so no freaking wonder the game was plastered, well, everywhere.
The team has promised to make things right with Cyberpunk 2077, because their goal for the game is similar to that of The Witcher III, for the game to continue making major profits for them years after release.
The big PS5 next-gen update is still scheduled for later this year. Do you plan on returning to the world of CP2077 once it’s upgraded to take advantage of the PS5’s SSD? Let us know your opinion on the matter in the comments, Brah!
