Shaun Escayg, who you might remember directed 2017’s Uncharted The Lost Legacy has returned to Naughty Dog. Previously known for his work on the narrative for Marvel’s Avengers, Shaun has now rejoined a place all too familiar.
Shaun Escayg Rejoins Naughty Dog
Shortly after development ended on the project, he left to lead development on Marvel’s Avengers. However, come to find out through a Twitter announcement, Shaun has found his way back home. Here’s the announcement in question:
Naturally, numerous Naughty Dog devs followed this by welcoming him back into the kennel. Then, the official Naughty Dog account shared their own thoughts shortly thereafter. “Looking forward to doing awesome stuff together.” Of course this goes as pure speculation, but you’d have to wonder if Marvel’s Avenger’s played into this. I can’t even begin to imagine the kind of stress associated with keeping a game of that nature, alive with constant content updates. So, I wouldn’t blame him if he feels like a fresh start with a place he’s already familiar with could do him some good. Especially with how tumultuous Marvel’s Avengers reception seemed to have been.
Nonetheless, Shaun seems excited to have returned. After the fantastic, Uncharted The Lost Legacy, it’ll be exciting to see what he does next. Especially taking all he’s learned from that project and applying that to whatever Naughty Dog’s next project is.
