Here’s a bit of ‘Wtf news’ for you today: the first interation of MLB The Show to hit release outside of the PlayStation ecosystem, MLB The Show 21, will be a DAY ONE title on…Xbox Game Pass?!?

Xbox Wire dropped the news today, saying that the standard edition of the game will be available across a multitude of devices thanks to Xbox Game Pass.

We’re delighted to announce that MLB The Show 21 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one and will be available on April 20 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as on Android phones and tablets via Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) for Ultimate membersBoth MLB The Show 21 Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S Standard Editions will be included with Xbox Game Pass so members will be able to play the best version of the game regardless of which console they’re on. And with cross-platform play and progress, you can play against others online, and earn and use content across the platform and generation you choose.

I’m certainly aware of the fact that PS Now and Xbox Game Pass are two vastly different services, but I wouldn’t have bet money that it was going to be a XGP Day One release before being a PS Now Day One release OR PS+ for that matter.

Some of you have pointed out that ‘MLB’ instead of Sony Interactive Entertainment is the publisher for the Xbox version of the game. This could have something major to do with the decision to bring it to Game Pass.

MLB The Show 21 brings all the action of professional baseball to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Xbox Game Pass on April 20th.
