Square Enix held their first ever Square Enix Presents today and while it was mostly a bunch of blah (in this writers opinion), it did have one cool feature. A slight tease of Project Athia which is actually titled Forspoken and is coming to PS5 and PC in 2022 (yeah, we’ll see).

Over at the PlayStation Blog, Director and Head of Studio of Luminous Productions Takeshi Aramaki also revealed the logo and a few other details.

Forspoken is an action RPG where you will take on the role of Frey Holland, an ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive in a fantastical and dangerous land called Athia. As Frey, you will embark on a thrilling, other-worldly adventure and face treacherous trials to unravel the mystery behind the unknown land of Athia and awaken something much more from within.

Ella Balinska is portraying the character of Frey in both sound and capture performance and Frey is able to quickly traverse the amazing looking yet fantastical and dangerous lands of Athia with incredible speed and fluidity, scaling cliffs and leaping across ravines.

I don’t know about you but I’m definitely intrigued by this. Some of the landscapes and environment look so real (as Sammy Sosa once famously said, back when he could speak English too). Of course, we’ve also seen announcement videos where everything looks great and then ends up looking nothing like that in the finished product. But this is now on my radar screen. Now we’ll see if it can continue to look awesome as well as keep that 2022 date (spoiler: it won’t).

Side note: What’s up with that title? That’s an odd word. I kept thinking the game was called Forpsaken and kept typing that in the article and having to edit it (Forspaken isn’t any better than Forspoken, they both suck). I would have been just fine calling the game Athia. I don’t like the title because I just don’t like this word. But who cares!?
