While it’s certainly awesome that Sony took the time and effort to make PS4 backwards compatibility excel on the PS5, the transferring of save files to the now current-gen consoles hasn’t always been easy. For example, for Borderlands 3 you had to manually upload your save file from the PS4 to the PS5. You couldn’t even use the PS+ cloud storage to transfer it.

Seeing as how Cyberpunk 2077 is on track to be one of the biggest releases of 2020, CD Projekt Red took the time to detail how you’ll have different solutions to your CP2077 save files from your PS4 to the PS5, when it comes to playing the game via BC on the PS5.

You’ll have three different choices:

1.) Upload your save file to the PS+ cloud platform, then download it to your PS5. (IF you’re a PS+ subscriber, that is!)

2.) Transfer the data via LAN cable or Wifi.

3.) Copy your save file to a compatible storage device and transfer it to your PS5.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy? Certainly seems that way. Remember this though: to transfer your save files from one generation to another, it must be the same PlayStation username.
