Awards season is finally underway for the games industry and today, we have Gamesradar’s annual, Golden Joystick Awards, to usher in its arrival.
Nominees were revealed back in September, with games like Ghost of Tsushima, Hades and Final Fantasy VII Remake, receiving a number of nominations in an array of categories. Chief among the nominees is Naughty Dog’s, The Last of Us Part II, which looks to have had a pretty good day at the Golden Joystick Awards.
The Last of Us: Part II takes home a total of 6 awards. These include,
- Best Storytelling
- Best Audio
- Best Visual Design
- Studio of the Year
- PlayStation Game of the Year
- Ultimate Game of the Year
The last award being particularly interesting since, it’s an award decided entirely on the community.
Some of the other notable winners include, Hades winning the award for Best Indie as well as the award for the Critic’s Choice. God of War Ragnarok, took home the award for the Most Wanted Game, while Fall Guys won the award for Best Family Game.
Looking through these nominations, really provide a reflection on just how great of a year 2020 was for gaming. Dreams, Doom Eternal, Nioh 2, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Persona 5 Royal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Hades, Fall Guys, Ghostrunner, Carrion, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us: Part II, Spider-Man: Mile Morales, Demon’s Souls and Animal Crossing New Horizons, all cement what was a banger of a year.
Congrats to all the nominee’s and winners for having a hand in such an incredible year!
