CD Projekt Red has announced that, the long in development, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally gone gold ahead of its release date of November 19th.
While this doesn’t mean that the game is finished, as their will still be plenty of work left to iron out bugs and what not, this does represent a major milestone for the team, as physical copies can now be printed.
This does come on the heels of the company implementing mandatory work, 6 days a week for its employees. Work, that some employees have been doing for weeks, months and even up to years already. A practice that the company had already promised to avoid such conditions on the game but unfortunately succumbed to them anyway.
In response to the negative reception the news brought about, studio head Adam Badowski said the decision was, “one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make,”
Originally announced back in 2012, its fair to say that expectations for Cyberpunk 2077, are beyond astronomical. But after the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the gameplay footage we’ve seen of Cyberpunk 2077, maybe those expectations aren’t completely unfounded.
