We’ve been waiting for some kind of official statement from Sony regarding the TLoU2 leaks and this appears to be what we’re going to get, courtesy of Rebekah Valentine of GamesIndustry.biz:

Sony has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that it has identified the primary individuals responsible for the leaks earlier this week, saying they were not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog, as was rumored.

I’m not here to convince you that you absolutely need to believe what Sony told GiB regarding the insane amount of leaks that recently hit the internet pertaining to The Last of Us Part II. You most likely already have your own opinion on the matter. You might have read Jason Schreier’s piece on the current workplace environment at Naughty Dog. The studio makes amazing, unforgettable games, but at what cost? Crunch is an unfortunate part of the gaming industry and it seems to be the culture at ND to deliver the quality of games we expect from the team

One major problem these days is with the 24 hour news cycle, we want everything now. New major AAA game from your favorite studio was announced today? Brah. We wanted to yesterday. So when these TLoU2 spoilers hit they spread like wildfire. People who have yet to even play the game are criticizing it on how it’s a “shit game” even though they have very little context of how it happened, let alone even PLAYED the game.

You can believe what you want but when The Last of Us Part II, even though I’ve had most of the major plot points spoiled for me, I’ll still going to have a damn good time.

The Last of Us Part II hits the PlayStation 4 on June 19.
