After being in the beta test phase for what seems like forever, you will soon be able to chat with ALL of your friends once again, as PlayStation 4 Firmware update 7.00 goes live THIS WEEK!
This latest update brings vast improvements to the party chat feature, along with the option to chat with up to 15 other players, making the new maximum limit of 16 players at once, if you so choose to inherit such chaos.
PlayStation insists that audio quality and network connectivity have been greatly improved for an overall better experience when chatting on the PS4.
Chat transcription will be an all-new option for US gamers!
Party App will also offer a new Chat Transcription feature for US users via the PS4 Second Screen App on your smartphone or other mobile devices. The new feature supports US English and converts party voice chat to text, or enables you to enter text that is read aloud to other party members. If using your mobile device to connect to your PS4 during a Party, you will now see a new Party tab has been added where the new functionality is available.
Jealous that iOS users have been enjoying Remote Play on their devices?? Android devices running firmware 5.0 or higher will now be able to use their devices for remote play! Once Firmware Update 7.00 is live, download the PS4 remote play app off the Google store to get started.
iOS can now display the controller on screen at all times along with the ability to lock the screen orientation.
PlayStation would also like to remind you that Dualshock 4 controllers can now be used on iPhone, iMac, iPads, and Android. Just make sure you have iOS 13, iPadOS 13, macOS Catalina, or Android 10 updates to do so.
What do you think, Brah? This could very well be the last major update before the PlayStation 5 arrives next Fall. What missing features would you like to see in the future?
