You probably haven’t heard, but Square is publishing an Avengers game (in my most sarcastic voice). This was probably the biggest video game people were waiting to see, outside of maybe the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Square decided to give us a long look at “in-engine” footage of what to expect with its first crack at a Marvel game. It definitely did not disappoint!

The trailer showcased 5 avengers: Black Widow, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man. Each is voiced by a superstar actor/actress, and it seems like Crystal Dynamics isn’t going to be holding anything back with this game. It makes sense to have those five heroes, and I wonder who we will end up being added in after the release.

Speaking of DLC, it was announced that every future hero and stage will be free AND it won’t have any loot boxes. It’s almost too good to be true.

I’m a complete sucker for Marvel stuff, and I’m also a sucker for anything that has co-op. It was confirmed that Avengers will have 4 player co-op in it. If “assembling” with your friends as different Marvel characters isn’t your thing, then why are you still reading this!?

One really shocking announcement was that PlayStation and Square have a deal for this game, and there will be a beta for PS4 and also some “unique” content for PlayStation owners. I would expect it to be something small, such as some different skins or heck maybe even Spider-Man being an exclusive character. So does this mean PlayStation actually ended up winning E3 over Xbox without having a conference?

Check out the trailer below:

The only thing I am nervous about is the amount of studios helping out with the project. Sure it’s great to have a ton of talent helping out with Square’s biggest project, but that doesn’t always lead to a great game. Remember how the Master Chief Collection was a mess when it came out due to multiple studios working on it? I doubt that happens here, but it’s still something to mention.

Either way, this is a day one buy for me, and I’m excited to play it completely with my friends (even if they are imaginary). Who else is becoming an Avenger on March 15th, 2020?
