We all know of the tumultuous journey the Final Fantasy VII Remake has had since blowing Gamers mind at E3 2015. After two exciting trailers by the end of 2015, SE went silent on development until rumors emerged that Square ended their co-development status with Japanese developer CyberConnect2 when their gameplay was deemed unsatisfactory, and as a result, full development of this MAJOR game is now back at Square Enix completely.

Rumors are still circulating that the game is having many development issues, but according to Director Tetsuya Nomura, fans need not worry. In an interview with Famtisu, Nomura-San wanted to address this issue.

There’s been some misinformation regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake in some parts of the Internet so I wanted to touch up on that a little.”

Famitsu asked if this was regards to Nomura’s recent comments about focusing on KHIII, which lead to some fans believing that development status on FFVIIRe was stalled or not making any progress. Remember, he is the Director of BOTH games.

There’s been some misinformation regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake in some parts of the Internet so I wanted to touch up on that a little. That [speculation] is not official. As I said during E3, development is going favorably. I just wanted to say that the current PR priority is Kingdom Hearts III […] but after that it’ll be Final Fantasy VII Remake, so please don’t worry.

There you have it! Of course, this could all be a facade. How many Directors are going to openly admit that they’re game is in development hell until AFTER the game is out? Not many.

Don’t worry FFVII fans, our time is nearly upon us. Kingdom Hearts III releases on January 29th, 2019. My money is on a grand re-revealed of FFVIIRe at E3 2019. Just not at Sony’s booth. Because ya know, they won’t be there.

Are you still hyped for Final Fantasy VII Remake?
