Vblank Entertainment’s Retro City Rampage was a glorious ode to 8-bit gaming, full of fun retro gameplay along with jokes out the wazoo, old school gamers should definitely give it a shot.

Their follow-up to RCR, Shakedown: Hawaii takes aim at the 16-bit age of gaming, all while retaining the insane gameplay of Retro City Rampage and so much more!!

Shakedown- Hawaii was originally slated for release last summer, but has been pushed back a couple times and as of this moment, still doesn’t have an exact release date.

Thankfully Brian Provinciano of Vblank Entertainment has issued an update on the status of the game!

Shakedown: Hawaii‘s still on the way! Thanks to all of you for your patience.

It’s taking a long time to build, but I’m confident that once you play it, you’ll feel it was worth the wait. It’s larger than Retro City Rampage was in every way: from its world, to its missions, cutscenes, interactivity, environment and animation!

The majority of the development right now involves cohesively melding the story, missions, gameplay and humor, as well as nailing the pacing and flow. This is an indeterminate process that includes playing the game over and over, and finding spots which need connective tissue, better placements for certain missions or story beats, punching up jokes and dialogue, and overall just making it as fun as possible.

While post-launch patches could fix potential bugs or add features, they wouldn’t be ideal for such core aspects of the game, thus its release date is still “when it’s ready”.

Shakedown: Hawaii will also be available on a multitude of gaming consoles ranging from the PS4, PS Vita, Nintendo Switch, 3DS, and even Steam! If you enjoyed the physical release of Retro City Rampage, you might be interested in the physical edition of Shakedown: Hawaii on the PS4 and PS Vita, which also happens to be PSTV compatible!

If you haven’t checked out the game before or forgot all about it, here’s the full reveal trailer!

Or you could always watch The Brah play it from my first taste of the game back at PSX 2016! The choice is yours!!
