Ok, let’s be honest. The original Gold Headset provided gamers with some great quality sound, ho-hum mic. quality, and well.. a mixed bag when it comes to durability. Don’t believe me?

Behold these Gold headsets that belong to fellow fans of the site.

Not exactly what one might call quality craftsmanship. My own personal pair has survived rather well, although my ear cuff material has begun to flake away, similar to the image above. If you’re not aware, the Golds retail for $99.99! A bit much for such mixed results.

Thankfully, Sony is looking to fix the situation. They broke news today that the Golds will be receiving a major revision. Check them out!

Can’t have broken hinges when there’s no longer any hinges to break!! This revision will still include virtual 7.1 surround sound and dual noise-canceling microphones. They will also be more comfortable to wear when using your PSVR headset. Plus they look much sexier than the original design. They’re still $99.99, if you’re thinking of getting a new pair.

What do you think, Brah? Are you going to grab yourself a pair or did the original headset burn you too bad? Look for the Gold Wireless Headset 2.0 later this month.
