According to the official Japanese website, the 500GB PS3, the last PS3 console in production, has ended. PlayStation 3. You had quite the journey. From November 2006 to May 2017. This my friend, is to you.

It’s sad to see you go. You arrived in November 2006, and over the years, you blessed us with such great titles as the Uncharted trilogy, The Last of Us, Gran Turismo 5, Demon’s Souls, LittleBigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid 4, and many more glorious titles.

You also launched at $599.99 US DOLLARS and at one point, the your gaming network was hacked, becoming unavailable for a month at a time, putting millions of gamers personal information at risk. You had the best of times and the worst of times.

Even after launching a year after the Xbox 360, the PS3 caught up with in worldwide sales, while some even claim that the PS3 outsold it after all was said and done! Not bad for a console that had such a troubled run and was “only”‘ good for an inexpensive blu-ray player by some.

So the next time you game and your PS3 rests in the corner, wondering when you might play it once more, smile.. knowing that you both had so many good years of Play together.

How do you feel about the PS3 after all this time? Have a funny story to share? Hit up those comments below!
