If you’ve been a Street Fighter fan over the past couple of decades, YOU KNOW THE DRILL. Capcom releases a new numbered entry. Year later, an enhanced (Super, Championship, Turbo) version with cool new content. So on and so forth. You know the drill. However, when SFV was first announced, Capcom said it would be the only disc you need to have to get the complete experience of the game now and in the future. Good news! Even after the rocky launch, they’re committed to their word!
While speaking with Capcom’s Matt Dahlgren, the fine Brahs over at EventHubs.com asked if plans had changed with their approach to Street Fighter V.
We’re always looking at how we can innovate on the series’ model, while keeping an eye on how receptive fans would be to a new type of offering for a Street Fighter game. Street Fighter 5 innovated on the series’ model by being a service-based platform, with earnable post launch content.
Even now, the price point of the main retail offering has dropped, which is essentially the starter version of the game. However, even if we come up with new models, we are still committed to our promise that the initial release is still the only version you’ll ever need to own with all game updates and balance adjustments available for free.
So If you still have your copy of Street Fighter V resting on the shelf, that’ll be all you will ever need to experience the best possible game.
Buuuuuut, you know Capcom is itching to do a re-release. It’s in their freakin’ blood, Brah!! With how the game launched, the mixed sales, and lack of content… Never say never..
What say you, Street Fighter fans? You enjoying SFV thus far?
